The trips meet 30 minutes before published departure time. These tour times typically have very good sea conditions for snorkeling and wildlife viewing. We travel rain or shine.

Yes, you may purchase a ticket and ride along without entering the water on any of our trips. Snorkeling is always optional, not required. Infants and those not entering the water are required to have a ticket.

Arrive 30 minutes prior to our published departure times. Use google maps prior to your trip to estimate the travel time required.

Refer to your confirmation email to find your departure location.

We meet in the city of Kailua-Kona for all our snorkel tours. Snorkel Tours meet at either Honokohau Harbor (10 minutes north of downtown Kailua-Kona) or Keauhou Harbor (10 minutes south of downtown Kailua-Kona). Your specific tour meet location will be listed in your email confirmation and if changed to the other harbor we’ll contact you by text and/or email prior to your departure time. Please be sure to save that email confirmation and watch for email and text updates. Here are the addresses of our two meeting locations.

Honokohau Harbor

205 Kealakehe Parkway

Yes, Captain Cook Snorkeling Tours are an excellent choice for cruise ship passengers. We are only a 10-20 minute Uber ride from the cruise ship port to our boat harbor locations, leaving you ample time return from the snorkeling tour by 2pm to the cruise ship Kona port. The Night Manta Ray trip does not begin until after the cruise ship typically leaves port, so the Night Manta Ray trip is not a good option for cruise ship passengers unless the cruise ship is staying overnight in Kona

Tours starting in the late morning (10am) are the most popular and generally have more sun and warmer. 10am trips have the overall best conditions of wind, surf and the least rain. Our 10am departure is the ideal time to snorkel coral gardens & view colorful tropical fish. Dolphins are ideally seen between 10am and 2pm.

A pair of sandals is ideal to walk to the boat.
Yes. Our boats have a dry storage area for guests with cameras, cell phones, and keys.
Arrive wearing your sandals, bathing suit, long-sleeve shirt, coverup, small towel and hat. Bring sunglasses, Dramamine (if you get sick on boats), cell phones, & camera.
Yes, all our snorkel trips travel to Captain Cook Monument for snorkeling. The one exception is the Night Manta Ray Tour which starts and ends within Keauhou Bay – just a 5 minute boat ride.

Day snorkeling trips to Capt Cook Monument and historic Kealakekua Bay are from beginning to end are 3.5 hours. The boat ride down to Kealakekua Bay is 35-50 minutes, depending on sea conditions.

Yes, probably. Dolphins inhabit the Kealakekua Bay area year-round and we often see them when we arrive each morning. Hawaii State Law prevents being closer than 50 yards but vieweing them is still an exciting part of our trips. We see dolphins on over 50% of our trips and humpback whales are seen between December and February each year. Turtles are frequently seen leaving harbor and flying fish are also common sights on our cruises.

Our tours depart and return between 8:30am – 3:00pm and are excellent for viewing coral gardens, colorful tropical fish at Kealakekua Bay and dolphin viewing. These tour times typically have very good sea conditions for snorkeling and wildlife viewing. Pick a departure time that works best for your schedule. We travel rain or shine.
